Fear of death
I watched conservative channels on You Tube for a while. And I remember some quotes that I'll write here and think about them. First of all, it is Dennis Prager's quote, "if you're not scared of right things, you'll be scared of wrong things". It was actually said about global warming, but also applies to any leftists agenda about Inevitable End of The World - and just their socialist policies can save the world, of course.
But then I've watched a young conservative - John Doyle - and he point out that there is a link between socialist policy and atheism. The link is this: if you are afraid of death, you try to cope with that. It can be religion, or something else. If you afraid of guns, you can be so scared that you wont thinking rationally - "just forbid all these horrible guns!". Or, if you're afraid of dying from illness - you will support "free" medicine for all, you will engage with mask security theater - no matter how it work, you just want to feel safe.
I doubt about religion as good mean to prevent these policies, as well as I believe there is no monopoly in religion to prevent death fear. But the truth is, "fear is a mind killer". And, in any case of emergency government is your enemy, not a friend. Did you hear about McGurk effect? Did you know how many children now have a speech problems? Just connect the dots, you will see it! But, a lot of people doesn't want to see it. they don't want a solution, they want a sedation. And it is a sad truth - but it is a truth still.
The great question you need to answer - would you rather be happy, or would you rather be right? When you lay to yourself, when you going to compromise - you just negotiating genuine desire. And it is a thing nobody really want cause the only you can get is resentment.
